14-16 Feb was Lunar New Year celebrations, then followed by Vee's birthday celebration the whole of yesterday. I just found time to breathe and the boy is catching up on his sleep. First time that he is yet awake at almost 11a.m.! Got to wake him soon and yes, conduct the lucky draw within the week. Good luck, Jamie! :)

Hi Jamie, Vee is in the early potty training stage and still in diapers, not yet potty-trained. Since 7-8 months, he has gotten used to sitting on the potty every morning and at every diaper change and has learnt to relax and pee / poo in the potty. I have also learnt to tell from his expression when he needs to poo and bring him to the potty straightaway. If he doesn't have anything to let go, he'd use his body language or hand signs to let us know that.

He is cloth-diapered full-time, so we save a lot of money on diapering him. The slight wetness that he feels on the microfleece or bamboo layer helps him be more aware of his body output; and research has shown that cloth-diapered children are potty-trained earlier than those on disposable diapers. (Read our reviews on cloth diapers here.)

We are now teaching him the words for pee and poo so that he can initiate use of the potty. He needs to gradually gain control of his body before being able to go off diapers completely. Hopefully, he'd reach that milestone by his 2nd birthday.

After I finish Pantley's book and use more of her ideas, the review would be posted. Stay tuned. :)

Hi,

I was pretty quite surprised whe I read in one of your posts that your baby is already potty trained. I read somewhere that children below 1.5 years of age are not ready to be potty trained yet.

very very interesting! and am sure it would save us hundreds on diapers if we can potty train our kids earlier.

Will you be posting a review on Pantley's potty training book?

Hi Kim, thank you for participating. Potty-training is a challenging phase indeed. I tried pre-potty training on Vee based on Pantley's ideas and he has been letting go in the potty regularly since 7-8 months old. I am glad we started early and made potty-time part of his daily routine, which he accepted well. A related write-up is here: http://www.mummysreviews.com/2009/11/14/babybjorn-potty-chair/

Enjoy motherhood! :)

My niece just had a baby girl so I am entering to win them for her. The No Cry Potty Training sounds fabulous, as I remember my son's potty training days. Not fun.

I have emailed you and also tweeted this giveaway on Twitter. Not sure if that counts.

You're a lucky Mummy indeed! :) It's only on rare nights that my boy wakes up twice to nurse. The night before was great, then last night was lousy. At 6a.m., he didn't want to nurse back to sleep and actually stood up! (He usually sleeps at 9-10p.m. and his day starts at about 9a.m.)

I love it when he takes long naps, then I can work on the laptop beside him. He is also more well-rested and cheerful. One of Pantley's ideas is to help the baby go back to sleep when he wakes up prematurely from his nap. A good nap is at least 1 to 1.5 hours. Depending on your baby, you may try nursing / feeding, motion or patting. After he gets used to long naps, the assistance can be gradually reduced. Good luck! :)

Lucky me, my 4 month old sleeps from 7PM-1PM, feeds, then sleeps until 5:30AM. Hope this pattern won't change.
My problem is getting hims to nap on his own and sleep longer during the day.

Posted the promo in my blog:
